MSR

What is MSR?

mag - net - ic  stripe  reader
noun

MSR stands for Magnetic Stripe Reader, a device used to read the information stored on the magnetic stripe of credit cards, identification cards, and other similar cards.

How does MSR work?

An MSR works by using a magnetic head to read the encoded information stored on the magnetic stripe of cards. The stripe typically contains data such as account numbers, names, and other relevant details. When a card is swiped through the MSR, the magnetic head detects and interprets the magnetic patterns, translating them into electronic data.

This data is then processed by a connected system or device, enabling transactions, identity verification, or other relevant functions. MSRs are commonly found in point-of-sale terminals, ATMs, and various card-reading devices, providing a convenient and widely used method for accessing card-related information.
