What is Direct to Merchant (DTM)?

DTM refers to a business model where a service or product provider opens its offering directly to merchants, without going through intermediaries like resellers or VARs.

How does DTM work?


The vendor bypasses other sales models, such as through wholesalers and distributors, and creates its own touchpoints where it can directly sell to the merchant. 

For vendors, this model allows for a better control of messaging and brand positioning, whereas for buyers DTM can bring more competitive pricing, more straightforward onboarding and easier service options.
